The Oceaneer surprised us in many ways. The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating throughout our stay, and the property is exceptionally clean. The recent renovation gives the place a very modern feel. They did an excellent job transforming the old motel rooms into cozy, contemporary spaces with a nicely updated bathroom and shower. They even managed to fit a small sofa into the room. (The only slightly odd thing was that the table was bolted to the floor and couldn’t be moved.) The A/C worked very well. The outdoor fire‑pit area and the pool are both very clean and inviting. The location is great—we easily walked to the boardwalk area or to Kure Beach. Overall, it was a very good experience, with the only downside being that there are no balconies.

It’s at the beach. What more do you really need to say . The whole point of this property is that it is beachfront. Your room has a view of the beach. Your balcony has a view of the beach and you’re literally steps away from the beach. Due to the humidity, you do get a bit of an odor in the room. Kind of musty. But clearly the air conditioner is too large for the space. So that makes it a little worse for the humidity and the clamminess in the room. And the air conditioner is very loud. While we did not use it, the pool looks fantastic clean and warm. There was plenty of people enjoying the pool. It’s kind of old and the maintenance is a little deferred, but everything is functional. It’s located in a very quiet part and there’s only a couple restaurants around but you’re a five minute drive down to Carolina Beach where there’s tons of activity. And only a couple minutes away from Fort Fisher Museum, and beach. Which is pretty cool to see. The beds were extremely comfortable. The TV is terrible, but you’re not there to watch TV. And to John and Janet, you should not leave your prime account logged in. I could’ve rented or added any service I wanted. lol
